It is with deep and heartfelt sorrow that we share the passing of William “Bill” Robert Newton, who departed this life peacefully at his home in Sugar Land, Texas, on July 13, 2025, at the age of 77.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 54 years, Sherry, the love of his life and steadfast companion, along with his children, David and Jennifer, seven beloved grandchildren, and one cherished great-granddaughter. Bill's legacy as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather is a testament to a life marked by love, kindness, and unwavering commitment.

A proud graduate of Alfred University in Ceramic Engineering, Bill possessed extraordinary expertise in ceramic-based materials, particularly in acid-resistant masonry construction, an area where his knowledge was simply unmatched.

Over his 45-year tenure at Atlas, Bill’s contributions were nothing short of visionary. He was an early champion of transformative products such as the Atlastic 55 Sheet Membrane and the Anchor-Lok Lining System. He foresaw innovation where others saw uncertainty; believing Anchor-Lok should be precast and delivered ready for installation and daring to flame-sheet asphalt onto steel with steadfast confidence. Time and experience proved him right, and the industry was better for it.

Bill's thoughtful leadership extended beyond product development. As a valued member of the Atlas Representative Council, he generously shared insights and inspired collaboration. His brilliance was never just technical, it was personal.

Bill had a rare gift: he made everyone feel seen, heard, and appreciated. He never met a stranger and had a knack for brightening a room with warmth and humor. His gentle icebreakers like asking, “What do you call a cow that just delivered her calf? Decalfinated!” brought smiles and laughter, moments that now linger lovingly in our memories.

To know Bill was to know kindness, faith, intelligence, and authenticity. His absence is deeply felt by all who knew him, yet his presence lives on in every life he touched and every idea he shared.

May his memory be a source of comfort, and may his life continue to inspire.
